Learning from Our Mistakes
The Philadelphia Inquirer runs a piece about the significance of the black and Latino vote in the New Jersey gubernatorial race:
Although it is believed that black and Latino voters in New Jersey generally back Democrats, Republicans hope to sway enough of them to slice away at Corzine’s dwindling lead in the nationally watched race between two wealthy white millionaires bankrolling their own campaigns.
I suspect that the efforts of the Corzine campaign will focus too much on Spanish-language media and too little on targeted messaging. I also hear that there has not been enough actual organizing of African-American or Latinos. Even though I think Corzine will win, it will be interesting to compare his performance with Latinos against Kerry’s in 2004.
