October 7, 2005, Laredo, TX. – On Wednesday, October 5, the Laredo Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO, gave its unanimous endorsement for Ciro D. Rodriguez for Congress 28 CDTX. The Laredo CLC represents the interests of all the AFL-CIO affiliated unions in the Webb County area. Edwardo Mata, USW Labor Coordinator, reported that after a good discussion about the merits for endorsement the Laredo CLC unanimously voted to endorse Rodriguez for Congress.
“The discussion explored the issue of who would best represent the people of Laredo and the 28th Congressional District,” said Mata. “The Laredo labor leaders determined that Rodriguez has a proven labor record in Congress and that he was the best person to represent them in Congress. Rodriguez, they concluded, was the best qualified person for the job to represent the district and they voted accordingly.” said Mata.
Ciro D. Rodriguez is making his official announcement on Saturday, October 15, 2005, at his Headquarters at 6108 S. Flores Street, San Antonio, TX., with a Press Conference scheduled for 10:58 a.m. and a Neighborhood Walk scheduled immediately after the press conference.
