The Capitol Morning Report reports that Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez has opened a gubernatorial committee: People for Loretta 2010. I’ll keep an eye out in case Congresswoman Linda Sanchez opens her own committee, too: People for Linda 2022.

Question: How much money does it take to make the runoff in a Texas congressional primary when you are a state rep with name recognition below 50 percent running against a popular current congressman from your hometown and a beloved former congressman from a town where nobody knows who you are?
The above graph shows […]

The Plank writes about the giddiness of a Democratic Capitol Hill “source” emboldened by the latest findings of the NBC/Wall Street Journal poll. The poll shows (on page 9) that a majority of adults (as opposed to voters) say that they would rather give a new person a chance than re-elect their U.S. representative. The […]

Rebeca Chapa of the San Antonio Express-News writes a fair and balanced piece about the CD-28 race.
Poll numbers are starting to trickle out in the Congressional District 28 race, and incumbent Henry Cuellar is posting comfortable margins over challengers Ciro Rodriguez and state Rep. Richard Raymond, who trails badly.
Ms. Chapa does a fine job of […]

I like the idea of elected officials blogging. My friend, LA City Councilman Eric Garcetti, does his constituents a service with his blog, in my estimation. I’ve also taken note recently of Texas State Representative Alex Peña. He recently has been blogging from the road about a march across South Texas by veterans protesting the […]

Tony Quinn writes in the Capitol Morning Report about the losers in California’s recent special election. I thought it was worth reprinting in full for a couple of reasons, not the least of which was the analysis of the impact that newspaper endorsements had on voters:
Sifting through the ashes of Team Arnold’s fiasco, one finds […]

I just wanted to thank “Tacho” Medellin of Dos Centavos for putting me on his blog roll and posting about the race in the 28th congressional district. But instead of linking to that post, I thought I would share his post-election analysis. It’s mostly about the view from his corner of Texas, but that doesn’t […]

An Austin blogger highlights what supporting President Bush did for the Democratic mayor of St. Paul, Minnesota - he lost by better than a two-to-one margin:
A Star Tribune Minnesota Poll showed that nearly two-thirds of likely voters said Kelly’s decision to campaign for Bush influenced their choice of candidate.
I think this is what Congressman Cuellar […]

The Mystery Pollster has a detailed look at the conflicting results of public polls testing the initiatives on tomorrow’s special election in California.
But this past week, only the Stanford poll showed two of the four propositions supported by Governor Schwarzenegger with “comfortable leads” and a third ahead within the margin of error. The […]

To all you Texas bloggers out there, I blame you. Between you and the San Antonio papers, you had me convinced that Richard Raymond was for real. If not exactly the second coming, at least the second coming of Cuellar. So, sitting in my remote Pasadena (Calif.) perch, you convinced me that if I did […]
