Richard Raymond Has Dropped
State Representative Richard Raymond has dropped out of the Texas CD-28 race.
Ciro Rodriguez released the following statement:
“From our first conversations early in the year about this race, I knew Richard and I shared the same motivation — the need to have a real Democratic Congressman who will stand up and fight in Washington for the needs of working families. Not say one thing in the District, and then abandon us in the Capitol.
“I’ve admired Richard for a long time. In fact, Richard has been on the front lines of fighting Tom Delay’s unprecedented and illegal, mid-decade partisan redistricting plan. This district is an unfortunate product of that, purposefully polarized to allow a Republican in Democratic clothing to get elected.
“I have no doubt Richard will continue his leadership for working families in the State House, and that his service will be called upon for higher office, maybe even statewide.
“In the meantime, I’ll be reaching out to his many supporters who share our values and believe we need a Congressman who will stand up for working families in San Antonio, Laredo, San Marcos, or anywhere in-between, for guaranteed Social Security benefits, real prescription drug relief, and the rights of working families.”
