Giffords Shows How It’s Done
Mike Sunnucks of the Phoenix Business Journal reports on former state senator Gabrielle Giffords spectacular one-month fundraising effort after jumping into the high-profile congressional race to succeed retiring Republican Jim Kolbe:
Giffords has raised more than $250,000 since launching her U.S. House bid in December. That is a very impressive number and Giffords hopes that will help draw more support and national resources to her Arizona effort.
…
Former state lawmaker Randy Graf, state Sens. Steve Huffman and Tim Bee and U.S. Surgeon General Richard Carmona are among possible GOP candidates for Kolbe’s seat.
Sources tell The Business Journal that top Republicans continue to try to recruit Carmona for Kolbe’s seat.
Graf, a conservative immigration hawk, ran and lost against Kolbe in 2004. He raised just under $28,000 for his current congressional bid through the third quarter.
The Graf campaign did not return a telephone call seeking comment on how much they have raised since those third quarter numbers.
