Don’t Count Out Clark

General Wesley Clark

The Hotline blogs that pundits aren’t giving General Wes Clark his due as a potential Democratic nominee for president in 2008. Thanks to my dear old friend, Catherine Grunden, a Clinton team alum who now serves at Clark’s PAC director, I had occasion to spend an afternoon with Clark in Texas. Seeing the general campaign in that most red of states gave me reason to agree with the Hotline - I think Clark will exceed expectations in 2008. And in the meanwhile, he deserves all the credit in the world for going out there and putting his money and time where his mouth is when it comes to getting Democrats elected.

Thanks for your very welcome comments! They’re being shared with the MANY ‘Clarkies’ who converse at securingamerica.com, and who follow every move General Clark makes.

    Let’s keep in touch.

General Clark knows 2006 is the big one. I don’t think anyone is working harder than him to support candidates all across the country. If we can’t get our system of checks and balances back, it’s not going to matter who is elected in ‘08.

Unfortunately, both parties are so entrenched in Corporate $$, it’s going to take a groundswell of “we the people” to change the landscape in Washington. We saw how it really wasn’t up to us who won the nomination in ‘04 - that will happen again if enough of us don’t get involved.

One of my favorite things about General Clark is he leads by example. He inspires us to be involved and that’s the only way we’re going to save our democracy.

Wes Clark has been putting his time and money where his heart and head lead. He’s speaking out against the mistakes of this administration, he’s fundraising for and endorsing candidates for 06. Like the comments above, he knows that 06 is critical–it’s key to turning things around without waiting til 08. He’s definitely showing country first. He’s a first class act and someone to keep up with.

General Clark possesses EVERYTHING the Democratic Party needs to win in 2008 if they would just allow themselves to look outside the box of Senators and Governors. However I’m glad that for now he’s flying below the radar. The media and political pundits have already anointed Hillary Clinton as the 2008 Democratic nominee just like they did Howard Dean in 2004….and oh what fun they had shooting him down, exactly what they plan to do to Hillary. General Clark is doing precisely what he should be doing–focusing on helping Democrats win in 2006, meeting with national and international leaders and building up his grassroots support. No one possesses the “presidential presence” that General Clark has….he is a class act all the way!!!

Clark is the best speaker on national security the Democrats have to offer, he should be right up there with Mark Warner at the top of the ticket. He’s making great inroads by speaking regularly on Fox News, giving him great exposure to Republicans. They’ll be willing to vote for him.
