What Do Andrei Cherny and Barry Groveman Have in Common?

Hertzberg Picks Another Loser

Andrei Cherny and Barry Groveman have both wanted to serve in the California Assembly. Neither do. Both were endorsed by Bob Hertzberg. And, if Cherny’s loss in 2002 is any indication, neither ever will get to Sacramento.

Hertzberg has many virtues, but persuading Valley voters to support his candidates is not one of them. I have no horse in the 20th Senate District or 42nd Assembly District races, but I think Bob may earn a trifecta this cycle: the polls suggest that despite Hertzberg’s endorsement, none of his candidates will earn a seat in Sacramento this year. I wonder what effect that will have on the Valley candidates of 2008.

Update: I’m given to understand that Bob chose to stay out of the race in the 20th. But he’ll still earn a Daily Double of losses on Tuesday. Groveman is a typical politician who is using sleazy political tactics to misrepresent Jonathan Levey’s career. Voters will reject Groveman. Bob should have known better.
