Weintraub at Work

It’s become almost de rigueur for political reporters to do their own blog, but Dan Weintraub was doing it well back when many newspaper readers didn’t even know what a blog was. The year was 2003, many of his blog posts revolved around the recall and I read religiously in part because my job as Deputy Corporations Commissioner for the State of California hung in the balance. Mostly, though, I read because Weintraub delivered real scoop and informed, balanced criticism at a time when partisan rants and self-serving guesswork were all the rage. Schwarzenegger’s rise was my demise as far as state government service was concerned, but Weintraub is still gets the prize from me for Sacramento insights.

His most recent post features Bill Carrick, Rick Claussen, Gale Kaufman, Steve Schmidt and me discussing the 2006 elections in California.
