Belching towards Irrelevance?

As often as I disagree with his politics, I can read my pal Dan Schnur’s writing all day and still be hungry for more.
In “The Politics of Hunger,” his latest piece in the New York Times, Dan worries about the enthusiasm gap:
The loss of a congressional seat in Mississippi was only the second most disturbing sign for Republicans last week. The exodus of lobbyists from John McCain’s campaign wasn’t even close. The most ominous warning for what the fall might be like for the G.O.P. was the throng of 75,000 people that Barack Obama turned out for a rally in Portland over the weekend. The crowd would have almost filled Wrigley Field to capacity twice over and would have been either the fifth or sixth biggest city in Oregon. Or to look at it another way, it was roughly two-thirds the number of Republicans who participated in the Iowa caucuses this year.
I, too, was awed when I saw what Obama did in Portland. I just wonder how many independents were there.

Dear Mr. Pineda:
I am also a Richardson follower but I must concede that Mr. Obama’s recent speech in Florida is, without reading to much into it, encouraging and even refreshing.
If I didn’t know better I could have swear that whomever is advising him on Latin America has read this and this postings. He quoted them almost literally.
Best regards;
